I work with painting and drawing to explore psychological landscapes rather than geographical places. My work investigates the relationship between the self and it`s surroundings, embracing the space between protection and vulnerability, nature and culture, stability and transformation. Through figurative imagery and intuitive painting processes, I create images that make space for uncertainty, where the familiar and the unfamiliar coexist.
Born in Gothenburg and based in Berlin, Theander studied Fine Arts at the Berlin University of the Arts, where she completed her master student year with Valérie Favre. Her work has been shown internationally in galleries, institutions and art fairs across Europe and beyond.
